The Scottish National Party have gained a seat in Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, a constituency which previously belonged to former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Roger Mullin led the SNP to victory in the constituency, having been labelled an “ultra safe Labour seat” by the UK Polling Report.

Mullin beat Labour candidate Kenny Selbie to the post, after Labour having gained it in 2005.

This is yet another seat in the SNP’s Scottish surge.
