Former Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, is set to lose his seat in Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey, says a senior Lib Dem source.

A tweet by political editor of the Scottish Daily Mail, Alan Roden, posted a tweet saying that a senior LibDem source had stated that “Danny Alexander has lost”.

Previously holding the prominent position in the Treasury alongside George Osborne as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Alexander was one of the four Lib Dems to negotiate the coalition documents.

The public has taken to Twitter to join in with the speculation, saying that the SNP are set to unseat him.

This has been speculated for quite some time now, after Alexander helped Chancellor George Osborne deliver unprecedented cuts.
