In an interview live from the Bermondsey and Old Southwark constituency, Bournemouth University’s Roman Gerodimos talks all things Europe.

Having looked at the earlier released exit polls, Gerodimos commented on tonight’s unexpected results, saying that what has been seen tonight so far is “slightly different from what we were expecting”.

He added that “obviously there’s a long way to go” after hints of a Tory-led coalition.

With his main research focus being the challenges facing democracy in the 21st Century, Gerodimos was later asked on his opinions of what would happen if the UK left Europe; a topic that has been mentioned throughout the election period.

He said: “It will be a historic moment for everybody involved.”

Gerodimos did, however, say that: “The challenges facing Britain and Europe right now require more integration”, something that would not be possible if Britain became independent.
