Poole count delay due to lack of trust in Royal Mail

May 8, 2015 by Jeffrey Buchanan Leave a Comment

The election count in Poole is delayed as approximately 300 postal votes were delivered by hand just before the polling station closed at 2200.

The postal voters apparently didn’t trust the Royal Mail to deliver them so took the precautionary measure.

Christchurch has also been pushed back an hour, with the declaration originally set to 2am, with it now being released at 3am.

Voter turnout in Christchurch in 2010 was 69,000, this year’s turnout has been significantly higher, causing the delay.

Our reporters are in Poole right now while the final counts are taking place

Our reporters are also in Christchurch.
