You wait all year it seems for it to come along, but before you know it, in all the excitement, it’s gone and another year of waiting commences. It’s now been four years since the Shadow Chancellor famously tweeted his own name and accidentally created everyone’s favourite unofficial holiday, #EdBallsDay.

Since that day, in 2011, it’s been retweeted over 40,000 times with a number of familiar faces also getting involved in the act, including Nigel Farage. Many are now tentatively waiting to see if the tradition will be kept up this year, even if he is a little reluctant like that in previous years
