#EdBallsDay celebrations commence

April 29, 2015 by Charlie Case Leave a Comment

You wait all year it seems for it to come along, but before you know it, in all the excitement, it’s gone and another year of waiting commences. It’s now been four years since the Shadow Chancellor famously tweeted his own name and accidentally created everyone’s favourite unofficial holiday, #EdBallsDay.

Since that day, in 2011,  it’s been retweeted over 40,000 times with a number of familiar faces also getting involved in the act, including Nigel Farage. Many are now tentatively waiting to see if the tradition will be kept up this year, even if he is a little reluctant like that in previous years

Good grief.. Oh go on then.. RT @edballsmp: Ed Balls — Ed Balls (@edballsmp) April 28, 2014

We’ll have to wait until 4.20pm today to find out, but until then but for now we’ve collected some of the best tweets celebrating the day so far. Happy #EdBallsDay everyone!

We asked @edballsmp to name his all-time best 5-a-side team. Some surprising choices in there. #EdBallsDay pic.twitter.com/qS6M7Nfv0q — FootballFanCast.com (@FootballFanCast) April 28, 2015

Use your Ed: Check your Balls. It’s #testicularcancerawarenessmonth, so why not celebrate #EdBallsDay with a check? pic.twitter.com/q2s3mIivS5
