David Cameron will make the best Prime Minister according to students voting in the YourElection15 poll.
The Tory leader topped the list, followed by the Greens’ Natalie Bennett, Labour’s Ed Miliband, Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, and then lastly UKIP leader Nigel Farage.
The YourElection15 poll, conducted last week, by over 450 students from Bournemouth University, aims to reveal a snapshot of how students feel about politics and their views on the upcoming general election.
Among the student population, 19 year old BU student Chloe Weller offers support to the Tory leader: “David Cameron is not afraid to make controversial decisions to make Britain better. And after a hard start at the beginning of his current term, he has been able to help the UK’s economic recovery.”
The vote of confidence for Mr Cameron is boosted by the revelation that the Tory party is also the most popular among BU students, with most intending to vote for them in May.
In the race for the student vote, the Greens came out as a close second, with Labour in third.
BU multi-media journalism student Joe Betts, 19, acknowledges the difficulties in being a part of a coalition government: “While people may complain about his time as Prime Minister, they have to remember that he is in a coalition with Nick Clegg as his deputy.
“Despite this and the bickering that has gone on between them, the government over the last few years have managed to reduce unemployment and get inflation down to a record low as well as other economic achievements.”
