Three senior Lib Dem MPs have all lost their seats in tonight’s election, further ensuring that it has been a terrible night for the party.
Former Liberal Democrat Energy Secretary, Ed Davey has lost his Kingston and Surbiton constituency to Conservative James Berry. This seat was one of the most marginal in the country in 1997, but Davey previously built up a robust majority.
Former Business Secretary Vince Cable lost his seat in Twickenham to the Conservatives, and Simon Hughes, former Minister of State and Minister of Justice, lost his seat in Bermondsey and Old Southwark to Labour’s Neil Coyle.
